AB Set to Face Recently Relegated Superliga Side

AB Gladsaxe return to Gladsaxe Stadium on Friday, July 31, 2026, for their first home match of the Betinia Liga season. In the club's second league fixture of the campaign, FC Fredericia make the trip to Gladsaxe.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM, with Jesper Nielsen serving as referee. He will be assisted by Morten Helweg Andersen and Thor Callesen, while Benjamin Helm Svendborg will act as fourth official.

AB once again face a club recently relegated from the Danish Superliga. The Green and Whites enter the match full of confidence after earning a well-deserved 2–2 draw away at Vejle last weekend—a fixture many considered the toughest away test of the season. Milan Silva Rasmussen scored both AB goals, assisted by Marcus Immersen for the opener and Tobias Damtoft for the equalizer.

FC Fredericia also enjoyed an impressive start to the season, defeating HB Køge 3–0 at home. AB goalkeeper Adam Ingi Benediktsson will need to keep a close eye on Frederik Rieper, who scored a spectacular long-range goal from just inside his own half against HB Køge. It's the kind of strike many players attempt, but few execute so perfectly. Fredericia's other goals came from Elias Hansborg-Sørensen and William Madsen.

It's also worth noting that FC Fredericia are managed by Michael Hansen, a former professional player in Denmark and abroad who has since built extensive experience as a head coach in Danish football. Fredericia are aiming for an immediate return to the Superliga.

The last meeting between AB and FC Fredericia came in the Danish Cup on September 21, 2021, when Fredericia claimed a 2–0 victory to advance. Their most recent league meeting took place on April 2, 2017, in Fredericia, where AB earned a 3–1 victory. Kristian Uth, Emil Holten, and Nichlas Rohde all found the net for AB that day.

Tobias Damtoft: "There's every opportunity to get points."

"I think it's going to be a really exciting match. Fredericia are actually a team that suits us well. They like to have the ball, while we're good at winning it back and attacking from those situations. There's definitely an opportunity to get points tomorrow—I honestly believe that's the case against every team in this division.

We're very pleased to have started the season with a point last weekend. As a newly promoted team, things can quickly become difficult if you don't pick up points early. Against Vejle, we showed that we're ready for the First Division. We put in a really strong performance and were happy to come away with a point. Fredericia had a solid Superliga season despite being relegated, and they've also started well in the First Division. We need to show that we're difficult to score against while remaining dangerous in attack," said Tobias Damtoft.

Head Coach Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson: "We'll have to work hard."

"Fredericia are a very good football team. We know how they want to play—they want possession and they want to dominate opponents with the ball. They create chances and aren't afraid to shoot from distance. They're also a very strong attacking side, so it could become a very difficult match if we aren't at our absolute best defensively. We'll approach them differently than HB Køge did. We see opportunities to make life difficult for them, and that's what we'll work on tomorrow.
