AB Head to Jutland!

Following Tuesday’s big cup clash against Brøndby IF at Gladsaxe Stadium, the focus now shifts 100% to the Betinia Liga.

Pre-Match Report

AB are heading to Jutland, where FC Fredericia host AB tomorrow, Saturday 31 October 2026, at Monjasa Park in Fredericia. This is the second match since the league entered its return phase, with all teams set to face each other once more.

Referee Nanna Lindby will get the match underway at 13:30, assisted by Jacob Gerner Rasmussen and Anna Kjær Smidt. Mads-Kristoffer Kristoffersen will serve as fourth official.

Fredericia and AB have faced each other many times over the years. AB’s most recent visit to Monjasa Park was on 2 April 2017, when AB secured a 3–1 victory. AB’s goals were scored by Nichlas Rohde, Emil Holten and Kristian Uth. It was a good win on a pitch that has often caused AB problems due to the strong winds that tend to blow across the field.

The first meeting between the two teams this season took place on 31 July 2026 at Gladsaxe Stadium. It was AB’s first home match following promotion to the Betinia Liga, pitting a newly promoted side against a team relegated from the Superliga.

AB had also faced a recently relegated Superliga side in their opening match, drawing 2–2 away at Vejle Stadium. It was quite an introduction to life in the Betinia Liga, with two matches against former Superliga teams right from the start.

AB also earned a point against Fredericia. The team put in an excellent performance, showing great determination and quality on the ball, and had every reason to be proud of their display.

AB took a 1–0 lead after 10 minutes through Milan Silva Rasmussen, but FC Fredericia’s Nemo Thomsen equalised in the first minute of stoppage time to make it 1–1. The match also saw debuts for Aidan Liu and Saliou Diop.

AB head into the match on the back of four consecutive victories, most recently beating Kolding IF 1–0 at Gladsaxe Stadium. That run has lifted AB to fourth place in the Betinia Liga with 18 points.

Fredericia sit third with 20 points. They lost their most recent match 2–1 away to Esbjerg, despite a performance and number of chances that arguably deserved to earn them points.

Everything points to a close and exciting encounter. With a busload of AB supporters making the trip, the team will once again have plenty of backing from the stands.

Speaking after Friday’s training session, Adam Benediktsson said the team is in a good rhythm:

“I think it’ll be fun to play tomorrow. We’re in a good rhythm, and we’ve picked up several wins in the league. In the cup match against Brøndby, we faced a very strong opponent, and I think we played really well. I hope we can take that performance with us into tomorrow’s match.

We always want to put plenty of energy and effort into our performances, so that afterwards we can say we deserved to be playing in this league. It’s also important that, after tomorrow’s match, we can say we deserved to win. That’s why we’re highly motivated and looking forward to playing,” Adam Benediktsson concludes.

Head Coach Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson: “We’re looking forward to the match against Fredericia. They’re a good football team, strong going forward and also very solid defensively, so it promises to be an interesting game. We’re going to Fredericia to play our own game.

We were very disappointed with our last match against them. We conceded a goal because we failed to put pressure on the player in possession, which made it easy for him to play the ball across the pitch. That’s not how we want to play, and they punished us for it.

It’s one of those matches that still bothers me a little because we dropped two points. We’re going to Fredericia tomorrow to bring all three points home. We played a good match against them last time, and we know how we need to approach this one,” Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson concludes.
