Important Match Against Vendsyssel FF

Tomorrow, Friday November 6. 2026, AB takes on Vendsyssel FF.

Pre-Match Report

Tomorrow, Friday 6 November 2026, AB takes on Vendsyssel FF, who have made the long journey from Hjørring to Gladsaxe Stadium. Referee Sebastian Aagerup will get the match underway at 19:00. He will be assisted by Morten Andersen and Shpend Shala on the touchlines, with Mathias Lykke serving as fourth official.

This is a crucial match for AB in their efforts to secure a place in the Top 6, particularly following last weekend's 3–1 defeat to Fredericia at Monjasa Park.

AB and Vendsyssel first met in the Betinia Liga on 16 August 2026. It was a clash between the two teams promoted from the Second Division last season. AB claimed a convincing 3–0 victory at Energi Nord Arena in Hjørring, with all three goals coming in the first half through Milan Silva Rasmussen, Noah Engell and Casper Grening. AB put in an excellent performance, standing up well to Vendsyssel's physical style of play. The second half was a controlled display from AB. It was also the first match in which Gabriel Noga and Aidan Liu partnered each other at centre-back.

Vendsyssel drew 1–1 with Vejle in their most recent match at home in Hjørring. Vendsyssel currently sit 10th in the table with 12 points, while AB are fourth with 18 points.

AB will be without Søren Ilsøe, who is suspended.

Marius Stenner said after Thursday's training session: "We're looking forward to playing Vendsyssel, and it's going to be an exciting match. I wasn't involved in the first meeting, but I've watched it back on video. Vendsyssel are a strong team, and we need to win the first and second balls in our duels. I think that will be the key to success tomorrow. It's never fun to lose football matches, but it's something that happens over the course of a long season. I actually think the boys have done a good job of bouncing back from last week's defeat to Fredericia. We've had a good week of training, with plenty of intensity and a lot of focus on our pressing. We've also watched some video to look at what we could have done differently in Fredericia.

"I think we've made some adjustments to our game and learned from that match, so we're ready for tomorrow. I reckon we'll be able to take them apart," Marius Stenner concluded.

Head coach Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson had this to say: "Over the past three seasons, we've played Vendsyssel five times, winning four and losing once. We've revisited that defeat several times since, and we've discussed it as a team. We've reminded ourselves and each other what we did wrong, who we are, what we stand for and what we want to represent. That helps us prepare for tomorrow's match, because Vendsyssel are a strong team. When we're ready to fight, we usually come out on top. I'd love to beat them 3–0 again, but it won't be easy. Tomorrow we're playing at home, which is great because it means we don't have to make the long bus journey to North Jutland. That said, we've won our last two matches at their ground, so a long bus journey isn't always a bad thing," Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson concluded.
