Akademisk Boldklub A/S has signed striker Saliou Diop. The 21-year-old Diop has signed a three-year deal that runs until June 2029. Diop joins from Stade Brestois, where he played from 2024 to 2026.
“The arrival of Saliou gives us another offensive weapon with some other qualities,” says head coach Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson. “It gives the team even more flexibility, as he compliments our current squad very well. I’m looking forward to getting him into the dressing room and for him to meet all the boys when we start up in July.”
During his time in France, Diop made his Ligue 1 debut in February 2025 and managed to play a total of four games for the first team.
“Saliou is a strong striker who can play as a goalkeeper,” says sporting director Jen Chang. “He already has experience of adapting to European football, having been part of Brest’s first team for two years. His arrival adds even more healthy competition to our attack.”
Diop started his youth career with Armor FC in Senegal before moving to Brest in January 2024.
“I am very happy to move to AB, it is a historic, great club and I am looking forward to meeting the fans in the stadium and to be part of the next chapter in the club’s journey,” says Diop.
