Tomorrow, Friday 8 May 2026 at 11:00, AB Gladsaxe will depart from Skovdiget. The trip goes by bus on the long journey to Thisted, where Thisted FC will host at Sparekassen Thy Arena at 18:00.
Thisted FC come into the match with a defeat in the bag after losing their last game 1–0 away to Vendsyssel. Part of the story is that Thisted FC played with only ten men for the last 25 minutes. The sending-off came after Jean-Julien Foe Nuphaus received his second yellow card and therefore a red card. So Jean-Julien Foe Nuphaus will of course be suspended against AB.
Thisted FC are in 4th place in the CampoBet Ligaen with 42 points. AB are still sitting pretty in 1st place in the CampoBet Ligaen with 59 points.
In the most recent match, it ended with a 3–2 away win in Roskilde. The win was yet another proof of determination and fight, as AB equalised twice and finally scored the goal that brought the win back home to Gladsaxe.
In the two regular-season matches, both teams got a win—oddly enough, both were away wins. In August 2025, AB lost 3–2 at Gladsaxe Stadion. In contrast, AB won 2–0 at Sparekassen Thy Arena in March 2026. AB’s goals were scored by Marc Dal Hende and Jonathan Mathys.
It was AB’s first match on grass in 2026, and it was on a pitch that, like Gladsaxe Stadion, had been through a tough winter.
For long spells, AB pinned Thisted FC back in their own half, scored two goals and kept a clean sheet—not least because Adam Ingi Benediktsson made a fantastic save on a big chance for Thisted FC.
Many teams struggle at Sparekassen Thy Arena. AB have too over the years, so it’s set up to be an exciting match. To make sure it’s a fair game played in good order, the responsibility is in the hands of referee Jacob Rasmussen, with Søren Stagaard and Morten Bach Jepsen assisting on the lines.
The coaching staff have selected the following squad for the match

Alfred Horup looks back on a week in high spirits: “I’m looking forward to it, and I think it was an exciting match the last time we were in Thisted. I always think our away trips are cosy and fun as a team. So I’m looking forward to it, and I expect we’ll take the 3 points. It’s a strong opponent, and I think Thisted are a good team and they’re very clear in how they play. They can hurt us too—and they have earlier in the season—but we’ve prepared well for them.”
This past week, there’s been a really good mood in training after our win over Roskilde. We’ve prepared with video and talked about how we need to deal with them. We have the plan ready, and we’re aiming again to put in a good performance tomorrow,” Alfred Horup concludes.
Head coach Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson is ready for another tough match: “We’re ready for the long away trip to Thisted tomorrow. We know what Thisted are about and what they do. They’re really good at what they do. They’re very compact defensively, they try to play with long spells and players who run inside. They’ve also kept a lot of clean sheets lately. I think my players are quite ready for that fight, and we know what we need to do so we can shut down their opportunities and open up our game.
In every match, we go out there to make it difficult for them. We managed that pretty well the last time we played them away and we won 2–0. So of course we hope that will happen again,” Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson concludes.
