Akademisk Boldklub A/S has extended the contract of midfielder Søren Ilsøe. The 26-year-old Ilsøe has signed a new deal that runs until June 2029.
Ilsøe was originally developed in Esbjerg fB’s youth academy and joined AB in January 2023 after a successful stay in the United States, where he played college football for both Northeastern University and the University of Connecticut (UConn).
“Søren is one of our absolute leaders in the locker room, and always someone who takes the lead in everything we do. He has helped to advance the club both on and off the pitch in recent years, and I am pleased that we as a staff will still benefit from his qualities in the future,” says head coach Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson.
In the 2025/26 season, Ilsøe has played 28 league games for AB, where he has 2 goals and 2 assists.
“Søren is an important part of our team,” says sports director Jen Chang. “He is a significant profile both on and off the pitch and enjoys great trust from his teammates and the coaching staff. Therefore, we are naturally pleased that he has once again chosen to extend his commitment to AB.”
Since his arrival at AB, Ilsøe has played 85 league games for the club and contributed 4 goals and 10 assists.
“The grass is not greener on the other side. It is green where we water it. In AB, my curiosity is fed — for football, for leadership, for development as a human being. My grass is greenest here. And that’s where I’m staying,” says Ilsøe.
