Tomorrow, Friday, April 10, 2026, AB Gladsaxe play their first match in the promotion round.
That happens when AB travel to the neighbouring municipality of Gentofte to face HIK at Gentofte Sportspark.
Kick-off is at 7:00 PM.
It’s the first of ten matches in the promotion round leading up to June 6, 2026, when it will be decided which two teams are promoted to the Betinia League.
HIK are in sixth place in the promotion round with 32 points, while AB are top with 50 points.
The two teams’ most recent meeting was the first match of the spring season. The game was played in Brøndby and AB won 3–0, with goals from 2nd Division top scorer Jonathan Mathys, as well as O’Vonte Mullings and Tobias Lykkebak. It was a match that was very even for the first 30 minutes, after which AB took control and won fully deservedly.

HIK lost narrowly in their last game of the regular season, 2–1 to Næstved.
AB drew twice over Easter. First it ended 0–0 in Skive on Maundy Thursday, and on Easter Monday it finished 1–1 against VSK Aarhus, with Marco Ramkilde calmly converting a penalty. So the team will of course do everything they can to get a win again.

Tobias Damtoft is looking forward to Friday’s match: “It’s going to be a great game we’re playing – a Friday night match – we love that! We’re ready to show that the two draws aren’t something we’re used to. And I don’t think it’s stuck with us either. I think it’s more of a bit of a wake-up call for us. Nothing is just given; we have to be there every time, and I think we have been. You can see it in training too, where everyone gives it everything.
If we don’t play at our best, other teams can make us look silly. If we do play at our best, I feel we can beat every team in the league. We’re going all out to win every match, every time.
HIK are a team that know what they want. They’re comfortable with the fact that it might not be them who have the ball all the time. We know them well by now – we’ve played them twice this season and it’s gone fine, but we’re coming out with a clear plan, where we want to rattle them a bit,” Tobias Damtoft concludes.

Head coach Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson says that football is also about hiding weaknesses and showing your strengths: “We’re facing a new round, but broadly speaking we’ll work in the same way. We’ve been unlucky in front of goal in the last two matches. We’ve created some good chances and got into good positions, but we haven’t been quite good enough in those situations. I think the players are ready to step onto the pitch and show what they can do.
It’s about energy, strength and crazy pressing – and we also want to create an entertaining football match.
We’ve played the five opponents we’re now going to face twice again. Those teams now know how we play. We play forward, we fight, and we try to score as many goals as possible so we win our matches too.
Of course there’s a small difference now in how well we know each other. We try to read the opponent, eliminate their strengths and attack their weaknesses. It’s the same for all the opponents – they look at our game, and even though we have a good, strong squad, opponents can of course find weaknesses in us.
That’s also what football is about – hide the weaknesses and show the strengths. I think we’ve been good at showing that this season,” Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson concludes.
