Another top clash at Gladsaxe Stadium

AB Gladsaxe will be looking to make it two wins in a row in the promotion round to the Betinia Liga, as Vendsyssel FF visit Gladsaxe Stadium for a real top-of-the-table clash. Kick-off is tomorrow, Saturday 18 April at 1:00 PM.

Vendsyssel FF are third in the table with 42 points, and AB are top with 53 points.
Since only the top two in the table are promoted, it definitely matters how many points the team in third place picks up. That’s why it’s all about being fully ready from the first whistle.
Vendsyssel FF’s first match in the promotion round ended 1–1 against FC Roskilde. AB won 5–1 at Gentofte Sportspark against HIK. AB’s goals were scored by Jonathan Mathys, Travian Sousa, Marco Ramkilde, O’Vonte Mullings and Milan Silva Rasmussen.

The first meeting between the two teams in the regular season, in August 2025, was played in Hjørring and proved to be a turning point for AB. AB won 3–2, with Marcus Immersen and Jonathan Mathys on the scoresheet. It was a match where Marcus Immersen really stood out with two goals. First he put AB ahead 1–0, and later he sealed the game with a thunderous strike. He received a high ball just outside the box and, in the same movement, turned around the defender and smashed the ball into the far corner. It still has to be one of the best goals scored at Nord Energi Arena this season. After that match, AB won eight games, including seven in a row.
The teams’ most recent meeting, in November 2025, ended with a 3–1 AB win at Gladsaxe Stadium. Magnus Munch Bjørn put Vendsyssel FF ahead from the penalty spot. Noah Engell, Jonathan Mathys and Tobias Hageltorn then scored AB’s three goals.

Noah Engell is hoping for three points against a promotion rival: “It was a really good way we started the promotion round last week. We’ve played Vendsyssel twice this season and won twice. Of course we want to keep that going – and they’re direct rivals for promotion. So it’s a real six-pointer, and it would be huge to win tomorrow. Vendsyssel have got a new coach, and they look like a team with more harmony, a very well-playing side that has also picked up some good results and is performing well in matches against the other top teams.
They’ll be up against an energetic, dynamic attacking team like we are. We want to score goals. And of course we also want to shut things down at the back, which I think we’ve been extremely good at this spring. We’ve got a taste for more after the 5–1 win. It’ll be a tough match, but it’s nothing we can’t handle,” Noah Engell concludes.

Head coach Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson will try to neutralise Vendsyssel’s strengths: “Vendsyssel have been really good this year after they changed coach. They’re more structured than before and have a clinical approach. We know what they want to do, so we’ll try to take that away. I think we’ll get a really good match tomorrow.”
