AB Chasing Three Points in Kolding

AB's next match in the Betinia LIGA will be played tomorrow, Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 13:00 against Kolding IF at Autocentralen Park (Kolding Stadium).

The match will be officiated by referee Jonas Bøgelund, assisted by Steffen L. Christensen and Jacob Gerner Rasmussen, with Mads-Kristoffer Kristoffersen as the fourth official.

AB, Kolding and Albert Nørager

The last meeting between the two sides at Kolding Stadium took place on April 22, 2023. Kolding IF won that match 1–0, and notably, AB’s captain that day was Albert Nørager, who played both youth and senior football at AB.

Later that season, Kolding IF earned promotion to the Betinia LIGA, where they have remained ever since. In July 2023, Albert Nørager was signed by Kolding IF.

Since then, Albert Nørager has established himself as an important part of the team in Kolding, and when Kolding IF takes the field against AB on Saturday, he will do so as the team’s captain. AB will also be greeted by a completely modernized stadium, including an impressive new main stand.

Both teams come into the match following draws. Kolding IF drew 2–2 away against HB Køge, while AB drew 1–1 at Gladsaxe Stadion. Both teams were also in Danish Cup action during the week. Kolding IF defeated BI Fodbold of Brønderslev 4–1, while, as many will have noticed, AB won the Mosederby 4–2.

AB currently sits in 7th place with 10 points, while Kolding IF is in 10th place with 3 points.

Kolding IF has not had the flying start to the Betinia LIGA season that they may have hoped for following last season’s participation in the promotion playoff. AB should therefore expect a determined and hard-working Kolding side. From the opening whistle, they will likely look to implement their aggressive pressing game and disrupt AB’s quick combination play. AB’s coaching staff is aware of this—as well as the potential ways AB can counter it.

Travian Sousa emphasizes the importance of running hard:

“I think we build on our performance from the last match against Hvidovre. We know it wasn’t good enough, but I think it’s more about ourselves than who the opponent is. We have to play better than we did in the last match, because then we can get the three points. When we run for each other—and we have to run fast—then we can win the game.

I think we have such good players that we can read the game if they press us. We can see whether we need to switch the play or hold onto the ball so we can play our way out of their press. So I don’t have anything more to say other than COME ON AB!”

Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson says the team must protect the ball:

“Tomorrow we play against Kolding, who were in the promotion playoff last year. It’s difficult to say exactly what Kolding will bring. They previously played in a 4-2-3-1 system, which they changed to a 3-4-3 after a couple of matches this season. Last week they played with six new players, so we don’t really know exactly what we’re going up against. We’re going into the match looking to play it on AB’s terms.

There are always question marks about who should do what in certain situations. However, it’s more about how you deal with the different situations. They will always press us, so we need to be smart with the ball and protect it—and we know where we don’t want to lose possession.”
