AB Gladsaxe play the final match of the regular season in the CampoBet 2nd Division tomorrow, Easter Monday, as AB host VSK Aarhus. The match will be played at the “home ground” at Brøndby Stadium 1964 Park (pitch 2), because Gladsaxe Stadium was not ready after the most recent home match against FC Roskilde. Kick-off is at 14:00.
VSK Aarhus are seventh in the table and will just miss out on the promotion group regardless of tomorrow’s result.
With first place in the regular season in the CampoBet 2nd Division, AB have secured a place in the promotion group.
The fixture list for the promotion group will be published within the coming week, so everyone can look forward to it with excitement.
VSK Aarhus are a well-organised team that play direct and have physically strong players. The team showed that again last weekend when they drew 0-0 at home against the top side Vendsyssel FF.
AB won the first meeting with VSK Aarhus at the start of October 2025 fairly comfortably, 3-1. Marco Ramkilde made it 1-0. It became 2-0 via an own goal, and Tobias Damtoft made it 3-0 during a spell where AB had been reduced to 10 men after O´Vonte Mullings received two yellow cards. He was unlucky with both bookings, as he slipped into opponents due to a lot of water on the pitch. VSK Aarhus pulled one back through Bastian Andersen shortly before the final whistle.
AB go into tomorrow’s match after a 0-0 draw from the game on Maundy Thursday in Skive. It was a match where AB didn’t manage to turn all the possession, pressure and chances into goals. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that it will happen against VSK Aarhus. Tobias Damtoft is back in the squad after serving his suspension.
Referee Sebastian Tornhøj Nielsen will be in charge, assisted by Simon Fenger Jensen and Yasin Seker on the lines.
The provisional squad against VSK Aarhus is:
1. Marcus Bobjerg (goalkeeper)
2. Jeppe Gertsen
4. Adrien Koudelka
5. Marc Dal Hende
7. Noah Engell
9. Emil Mygind Jensen
10. Marco Ramkilde
11. Casper Grening
15. Søren Ilsøe
18. Milan Silva Rasmussen
19. Jonathan Mathys
20. Marcus Immersen
21. Travian Sousa
22. Marco Vesterholm
23. Tobias Damtoft
28. Tobias Lykkebak
34. Mikkel Brund
37. Frederik Lindgaard
41. Tobias Hageltorn
43. Noah Ibsen
54. Adam Ingi Benediktsson (goalkeeper)
88. O’Vonte Mullings
Søren Ilsøe says everyone has to be ready from the first minute: “We’re really looking forward to the match tomorrow. We’ll be playing on a pitch with slightly different conditions. We know a bit more about how the ball behaves on that pitch. We just have to work hard and get a good result, so we can build momentum and take it into the promotion group. It was a shame to draw against Skive, but after we’ve talked the match through, we’re OK satisfied to bring a point home.”
We felt we should have won the match based on the chances we had. It was a tough day in Skive on a difficult surface, and we actually think we got the best out of it. Sometimes you have to accept that the game doesn’t turn out the way you’d hoped – and then 0-0 in Skive isn’t the worst result.
Even though there’s a short turnaround between matches over Easter, we’ve had good training on artificial turf. Everyone has felt really sharp, and we’ve been good at rotating the team. So we’re ready for tomorrow.
VSK are a strong team who haven’t lost for several matches. They play good football and want to take control of the game. We mustn’t give them too much time on the ball, because then they can easily play through and become dangerous. It’s a tough team we’re up against, so we have to be on them from the first minute,” Søren Ilsøe concludes.
Head coach Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson says it’s important to get points in the last match before the promotion group: “Tomorrow we play the final match of the regular season. After that match, it’s the promotion group, where all teams are competitive.”
VSK are really good in their build-up play; they want to keep the ball and they want to play through us. So we really have to put in a solid performance. We’ll be playing on artificial turf, and that makes it a bit easier for us to play the style of football we want to,” Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson concludes.
Come and support the team – see you there!
