Akademisk Boldklub A/S has extended the contract of midfielder Marco Vesterholm. The 26-year-old Vesterholm has extended his stay at the club until June 2029.

“Marco has taken AB by storm and he is a good example on the pitch every single day. I am very pleased that he has extended and that together we can take AB to the next step. His intensity and eagerness to work combined with a fantastic passing foot is something you rarely see at this level,” says head coach Gunnólfsson.

Marco Vesterholm played 29 league games for AB in the 2025/26 season, where he recorded 1 goal and 3 assists. Previously, he was in Skive, where he played 45 league games and scored 4 goals.

“Marco brings so much intensity and energy every time he plays,” says sports director Jen Chang. “He has a fantastic character and mentality, and we are delighted that he has chosen to commit his future to the club.”

Vesterholm started his youth career in Randers FC’s academy. He was captain of the club’s U13, U15, U16 and U19 teams and played 49 games for Randers FC’s U19 team. He also played for both Elon University and Virginia Tech University from 2021 to 2024.

“I am super happy to extend with AB! My first year has been absolutely fantastic, and I am looking forward to showing what we can do in the Betinia League. I believe that AB is the right place for me to continue to develop as a player and then it is a club with great ambitions that I want to be a part of,” says Vesterholm.
