Another exciting and important match awaits tomorrow, Friday 22 May 2026 at 7:00 PM at Gladsaxe Stadium.
Our neighbours from HIK are coming by, and the two teams will play the third-to-last match in the promotion round. As everyone knows, AB have already been promoted to the Betinia Ligaen with at least 2nd place secured. So now the fight for 1st place—and with it the 2nd Division title—has begun.
If AB beat HIK on Friday night, the championship will be in the bag with two matches to go. A draw will probably also be enough, because AB’s goal difference is extremely good.
The most recent match between the two teams was at the start of April, and it was also the first match of the spring. AB won convincingly 5–1 in Gentofte.
HIK lost 2–0 at home to Thisted FC the weekend before last. The match before that, HIK beat Næstved 2–1. That result meant AB had already secured promotion to the Betinia Ligaen by mid-May. So thanks for that, HIK!
AB should come into the match with plenty of confidence after an impressive, well-played game in Vendsyssel. The match ended in a 2–1 win. AB’s goalscorers were Tobias Hageltorn and Søren Ilsøe.
Now it’s HIK, and the chase for points is in its final phase. Responsibility for ensuring the match is played fairly and that everything runs calmly and in good order lies with Frederikke Lydia Søkær, assisted by Iman Huseen Umar and Christian Just Brixen on the lines.
Milan Silva Rasmussen says everyone is ready to go for 1st place: “It’s a great opportunity to win the league and show that we’re the best in the division. We deserve to win the 2nd Division, and we have the chance tomorrow.
I expect we’ll go into the match with the same mentality we bring to every other match and not take our foot off the gas. I’m sure everyone is completely ready and hungry to take 1st place.
Even though we won 5–1 last time, it won’t make us complacent. Everyone is at their best and training is just as intense as it usually is.
The mood is of course top-notch—everyone is happy and proud that we’ve not only been promoted, but also that we beat Vendsyssel.
I hope I can score a couple of goals in the match. It’s fun playing against my former club and I have many friends who are still there—but it won’t affect my game,” Milan Silva Rasmussen concludes.
Head coach Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson is going for 3 points: “We’re not going to relax and be complacent. We’ve had a couple of warnings during the season where we felt satisfied with ourselves. We’ve of course talked about it, because in this league—whether it’s the top six or the other end of the table—any team can beat us if we’re not ready on the day.
So we have to come into matches with energy and pressure, because if we don’t, we can lose to anyone. We’ve experienced that this season, but I definitely don’t think the boys will fall into that trap again.
We all know we need points to secure 1st place. Right now I don’t think my squad would be satisfied if we don’t do everything we can to finish the season in 1st—but it can happen as early as tomorrow against HIK.
I’m expecting an entertaining football match. HIK are a good attacking team. It’ll be interesting to see how they approach the match. We’ll come at full speed and get plenty of shots on goal.
We’re not playing for 1 point tomorrow—we’re playing for 3 points,” Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson concludes.
