Akademisk Boldklub A/S has signed winger and striker Steven Simpson. The offensive player has signed a two-year contract that runs until June 2026.
24-year-old Simpson has previously played for Esbjerg fB between 2021-2024. He has played 65 league games for the club, including 14 in the NordicBet League in the 2021-22 season. Last season, Simpson was a key player for Esbjerg in the 2. Division, where he contributed with 10 goals and 3 assists in 27 games and thus had a big share in their promotion season.
Prior to his career in Esbjerg, Simpson played in English Barnsley and he is also a former national team player for Canada’s U23 team.
“Steven is an experienced offensive player in the league and gives our coaching staff a lot of flexibility in attack,” said sports director Jen Chang. He brings even more speed, creativity and goal nose to the final third of the pitch and we are thrilled that he has chosen to join AB rather than other interested clubs.”
Simpson is also a satisfied new AB player: “AB is a good and ambitious club that suits me and the way I play football. There are really good facilities, and the high goals are a really good match for me,” he says and elaborates, “I have already talked a lot with the players and they have received me incredibly well. It’s a good group of boys.”
Steven Simpson has been selected for the squad for the away game against BK Frem on August 31 and could therefore potentially play as early as this weekend.
