Akademisk Boldklub has signed the attacking midfielder and winger Steven Bala on a two-year deal until June 2027.

“Bala is an interesting player who has now been on our radar for over a year. We have followed him closely. He brings qualities into our squad that give us flexibility and solutions when we need to break down some of the lower teams. I’m looking forward to working with him,” says head coach Joey Gudjonsson.

21-year-old Bala has spent half of the 2025/2025 season in Kitzbühel in the Austrian Regionalliga West, where he has scored six goals in 13 games. Prior to his stay at Kitzbühelm, Bala was part of the academy at Queens Park Rangers (QPR), where he played for both QPR U18 and QPR U21.

“Steven has a fantastic technical capacity and he is creative in the final third of the pitch, where he manages to break the lines.

“He gives us increased flexibility in attack with his ability to play as a winger and as a number 10,” says AB’s sporting director Jen Chang.

Bala has also played for the Albanian U21 national team, where he made his debut in June 2023 against Bulgaria.

“After being part of English academy football and subsequently being in Austria, I wanted to challenge myself even more and test myself at the next level.

– AB is the perfect place for me to go. They are ambitious, competitive and play attacking football. The club has shown interest in me for some time, so I have been following AB for the past six months, where I have been impressed by their play and ability to never give up.

“It’s definitely something that I want to be a part of, and I can’t wait to get started,” says Steven Bala.
