AB's opponent in the 1st Cup Match of the 2025/26 season is FC Rudersdal
The final of the Oddset Cup will be played on Ascension Day on 14 May 2026 in Parken. The long road for FC Rudersdal and AB Gladsaxe to the final starts tomorrow, when FC Rudersdal welcomes AB at 18.00 at the cozy Vedbæk Stadium with a nice pitch at Gøngehusvej 27. FC Rudersdal plays in the Zealand Series and finished in 9th place in the last season. FC Rudersdal will start the upcoming season on 15 August 2025 with an away game against Ølstykke FC. AB’s run-up to the match has been somewhat different than first thought. This is because the first match of the season against Ishøj IF in CampoBet 2nd division was stopped after 15 minutes due to rain, lightning and thunder. So it will be interesting to see how the coaching staff shuffles the cards.
Head coach of Rudersdal FC, Dennis Madsen is looking forward to the cup match
“We are really looking forward to it. It is great for us that we are going to meet AB. We know we are facing a team with a completely different set-up, and who have more speed and physical ability. We started training two weeks ago and played a training match on Saturday, so there is a big and visible difference. It should not stop us from doing what we can and the match can, among other things, show us where we stand physically. We are looking forward to it, and we hope we can give a good game to the hopefully many spectators who will come and support their team”, Dennis Madsen concludes.
Head coach Joye Gudjonsson wants to take revenge after last year’s short life in the Oddset Cup
“Cup matches are always something very special. We didn’t do very well in the cup last year. In general, it is important for us that we go into all matches to win them. We will also tomorrow, because we want to advance in the cup tournament. We will make a lot of changes compared to the starting line-up on Saturday, where they only played 15 minutes. We must again have great energy and intensity throughout the match. We know that FC Rudersdal will really come for us tomorrow. They are probably very excited and wildly motivated – they probably want to show all of Denmark that they can beat AB. It’s quite ordinary and the beautiful and the romantic thing about The CUP. I hope that tomorrow we will have many supporters who will help us on our way.
We have to raise the intensity, we play more rows above them, so we really have to show that we are better both with and without the ball. We just have to win the game to move on, but we also know that cup matches can be difficult, and it is important that we have the right mindset. We have to win and move on – on Friday we have the first home game that we want to win. We constantly push every day and every week to get better. Tomorrow against Rudersdal is also a really good opportunity to show a strong mindset, even though we are playing against a lower ranked team”, concludes Joey Gudjonsson.
