AB Gladsaxe won convincingly 5-0 on Friday night against Fremad Amager at Gladsaxe Stadium and are now unbeaten in six games. It was a game where AB led 3-0 after the first half on goals from Søren Ilsøe (13′), Casper Grening (23′) and Noah Ibsen (40′). In the 2nd half, Noah Engell scored twice (76′, 77′) and he is in first place on the 2nd Division’s top scorers list with a total of 15 goals of the season.

The coaching staff had changed the starting line-up for the game compared to last Saturday’s game against Aarhus Fremad.  O’Vonte Mullings sat out with quarantine and was replaced by Casper Grening, who started on the left wing. Frederik Lindgaard was moved to the right wing.

AB’s starting line-up was Nicholas Christoffersen in goal, in central defence Noah Ibsen and Adrien Koudelka and on the right side of defence was Steven Simpson and on the left side Rasmus Brodersen. In the central midfield were Søren Ilsøe (C) and Mikkel Brund. On the wings were Casper Grening and Frederik Lindgaard. At the top, Agust Hlynsson played behind Noah Engell.

In the initial phase of the match, most of the play from the two teams took place with long balls and lots of duels. In addition, the game was messy with two teams pressing high. There was also a tricky wind along the pitch, which also made it difficult to get the game going with the ball. The game was very similar to the match picture from May’s match between the two teams in Sundby.

As the game progressed, it was AB who got more and more of a grip on the game and rhythm in the game with good passes around the field and good shifts out on the edges. Fremad Amager was pushed back onto the pitch and lurked for conversions.

It was a game of great intensity and energy, and the 809 spectators had enough to keep track of when it came to goals. Already after three minutes, AB got a corner kick, but Noah Ibsen headed past the goal.

After 11 minutes, Agust Hlynsson had a good shot from distance, but it was also blocked. On the subsequent corner kick, the ball was headed into play after the first cross and landed with Søren Ilsøe, who threw himself and shot the ball into the goal to lead 1-0 – and he thereby started the goal celebration!.

After 22 minutes, AB had pressed the game very high in Fremad Amager’s half of the field, and a cross into the box from Søren Ilsøe on the right side, was exactly right, and Casper Grening resolutely shot the ball into the goal for a 2-0 lead.

Over the next 20 minutes, AB played their way to five corner kicks without any great chances. But on the sixth corner kick a few minutes later, redemption came and the lead of 3-0. Casper Grening took the corner kick, and Noah Ibsen was able to put his foot on and kick the ball into the goal.

Fremad Amager did not have many finishes to offer, and none of them were real chances, because either AB’s goalkeeper Nicholas Christoffersen saved or the shots landed over the goal. Steven Simpson closed the 1st half with a cannon shot close to goal.

From the start of the 2nd half, it was still AB who took the lead. The combinations flowed and the game continued to be fast and very energetic. Noah Engell had speed in his boots, and he was close to scoring after 61 minutes, but he was pushed at the moment of the shot and he shot over the goal. On a corner kick a few minutes later, Noah Ibsen had the chance, but he headed over the goal.

Then came the substitutions, and Casper Grening retired and Ægir Jarl Jónasson came on the field and took over Agust Hlynsson’s place. Yushi Yamaya came on the field and took over Casper Grening’s place on the left wing. Tobias Hageltorn took over Frederik Lindgaard’s place on the right wing.

AB withdrew further back on the field, and let Fremad Amager come further forward. AB fought bravely and Fremad Amager had to go all the way to the 75th minute before they got their first chance in the 2nd half. The 2nd half was thus not where Fremad Amager converted chances into goals. In a few attacks, they came to finishes that either landed past the goal or were saved by Nicholas Christoffersen. Fremad Amager tried to play quickly, but AB’s defense was just fine.

AB’s game picked up speed again, and both Tobias Hageltorn and Noah Engell had good finishes. Steven Simpson, who played a very good game, fought his way to the ball several times. He found Tobias Hageltorn, who sent a pass to Noah Engel – and then the goal came to 4-0! Just a minute later, it was again an assist from Tobias Hageltorn that led to another score to 5-0 from Noah Engell. A minute before the score, Rasmus Brodersen went out and Noah Poulsen came on the field and got his 1st team debut.
After 82 minutes of playing time, Yael Liesdek came on the field. He took over at right-back, and Steven Simpson was laid forward on the right wing. Noah Engell retired and Tobias Hageltorn was put at the very top.

Captain and one of today’s goalscorers Søren Ilsøe thinks it was a good game plan.

“I think we were better on all parameters. We were better at communication, at intensity, at play, on the ball and at the pressure game – I think it was all around. I think it was deserved that we win 5-0.

We know how Fremad Amager will play. They want to play long balls, they want to play intense football and win the second balls. So we know that we just have to get over the first ten fifteen minutes, then the game starts to settle down and then it becomes more on our terms.

If you have to win duels all the time, then it gets more messy. Everyone has so much energy in the beginning and it has to get out of the system and settle. After we get the first goal, it just runs like a machine. The last time we played against Fremad Amager, we had a hard time playing through them, and we got to watch a video of that this week. In midfield, Brundt and I rotated in a different way and we just succeeded so well – so it was a good gameplan!”, Søren Ilsøe concludes.

Head coach Joey Gudjonsson was very pleased with the match.

“It was a really good performance and we had that last week as well. Of course, Fremad Amager is a good team, but they have some challenges at the moment. They have good players on the pitch and I’m really happy that our players went into the game with a strong mentality. Right from the start we were on them, right in front of them all the time and we made it difficult for them.

There were a bit difficult conditions today with strong winds and then the track was a bit too wet in the beginning. So it was a bit difficult to play the way we wanted, but we were aggressive and also created chances. We could have scored more goals and I’m glad we had a clean sheet today.

We had many, many corners and we could have scored on more of them. We are getting stronger and stronger. It was also great that Noah Engell scored two goals. He’s been a great player for us this year, so it was pleasing to see him score. He even had more chances, so he could have scored more goals.
So overall, it was a really good performance, but most of all I’m happy with the players’ mentality and with how much they give in the match.

Then today we had another academy player, namely Noah Poulsen, who made his debut in the 1st team. He has done really, really well at the U19 this year, and he has a great future ahead. So it was really nice to see another academy player come through to the 1st team”, concludes Joey Gudjonsson.

The next match will be played on Saturday 7 June 2025 at 14:00 against Middelfart at Gladsaxe Stadion.
