AB Gladsaxe will meet tomorrow, Wednesday 16 July at 18:00 Sundby BK at home at Skovdiget.
It is both clubs’ first training match. For AB, it is the first of four training matches before the tournament starts.
It will be exciting to see where the team stands after the short and physically tough start. The match will reunite with the majority of the players who so successfully completed the promotion playoffs in the just concluded season. The match also gives the opportunity to see the new players who have joined.
Sundby BK plays in CampoBet 3rd division and finished the last season in ninth place. They start the new season with a bang when they go to Valby to play BK Frem. As you know, AB will face Ishøj in the first match, which will be played on August 2 away from home.
In February, the two teams also met in a training match on Amager. Here, the game ended 2-0 to AB after 0-0 at the break. AB’s goal was scored by Frederik Lindgaard at the end of the game and Noah Engell scored in overtime. It was not a very well-played game from AB’s side. AB lost the ball several times in the middle of the field and each time Sundby BK tried to quickly and directly forward the field and quick finishes.
Head coach Joey Gudjonsson will continue as strong as the end of last season:
“We have to build on and continue to strengthen what we did so well in the last five games.
Right now, the focus is on the physical training and the tactical approach. Even though we have trained very hard the last few days, and the players therefore obviously get tired, we will see them tired and see them play under pressure.
We will play with two teams, each playing for 45 minutes. I want to see a strong mentality, we play against a weaker opponent and the intensity has to be there throughout the game. We have to take control just like we did in the last five games last season – and we won them all.
I also want to see that the players who have been here for a long time will show the new players what it means to be an AB player and be part of our team. They need to show how proud they are to play with the AB logo, work together as a team and become successful.
Marc Dal Hende is an important player for us, he will help take us to the next level by keeping us together, ensuring motivation and staying focused on the things we want to do.
The new players must be prepared to follow our style of play. Everyone has to put in a lot of effort both tactically, physically and mentally. I hope and believe that the players who have been here for a long time will take care of the new players and guide them in the right direction, so that the transition for the new players will happen well and quickly,” concludes Joey Gudjonsson.
