On Friday, AB Gladsaxe secured a crushing victory at Gladsaxe Stadium, sending Fremad Amager back to Amager with a 5-0 defeat. AB is now No. 1 in CampoBet 2nd Division, at least until the remaining matches are played this weekend. The match was attended by 832 spectators, who were treated to a well-played match at a high level with plenty of goals. AB led 4-0 at halftime with goals from Jonathan Mathys, O’Vonte Mullings, Marco Ramkilde, and Søren Ilsøe. In the second half, O’Vonte Mullings scored his second goal to make the final score 5-0.
AB’s starting lineup
The coaching team had given the starting eleven from the HIK match, which they won convincingly 4-0, another chance. The starting lineup was therefore: Adam Ingi Benediktsson in goal, Frederik Lindgaard on the right side of defense, Adrian Koudelka and Noah Ibsen in central defense, and Tobias Damtoft on the left side of defense. Marco Vesterholm and Søren Ilsøe (captain) were in central midfield, O’Vonte Mullings on the right wing, and Jonathan Mathys on the left wing. Noah Engell and Marco Ramkilde were up front.
Match Report
It was an absolutely fantastic evening, where AB played one of the season’s best matches. The match had barely kicked off when Marco Ramkilde took a shot. It didn’t result in a quick goal, but it created respect. In the initial phase, AB pressed well and maintained their organization. Both teams tried to gain control of the game, and the start was very even overall. AB had a number of corners in the 1st half, which Noah Engell delivered well into the box. However, this did not lead to any great chances. Much of Fremad Amager’s buildup took place on their left side, which occasionally presented challenges for AB’s defense. Fremad Amager had a major chance when a player suddenly broke through alone and shot, but Adam Ingi Benediktsson saved the shot.
AB was the first to create a really big opportunity when O’Vonte Mullings sent a cross from the right wing into the box, where Jonathan Mathys got in front of Fremad Amager’s defense and resolutely kicked the ball into the goal to take a 1-0 lead after 24 minutes.
O’Vonte Mullings was again in good spirits. After 37 minutes, he received a really good pass from the middle of the pitch, took a single touch around the defender, and sent the ball into the goal to take a 2-0 lead.
AB took over more and more of the game, and in the 42nd minute, Noah Engell received a pass on the left side in the penalty area. He took a couple of quick touches towards the goal line and played it across to a forward-rushing Marco Ramkilde, who confidently hammered the ball into the goal to take a 3-0 lead.
After 46 minutes of play, AB again brought their quick passing game to the edge of Fremad Amager’s penalty area. Marco Ramkilde played the ball back to Søren Ilsøe, who took a short run-up and smashed the ball into the top corner from a few meters outside the box to take a 4-0 lead. It was a goal that will be a contender for the season’s best goal at Gladsaxe Stadium.
2nd half
Marcus Immersen came on at the start of the 2nd half, replacing Marco Ramkilde. AB continued to play undaunted despite the large lead. They continued to control the match and pushed Fremad Amager back on the pitch. AB had several good crosses that were not converted into goals. Fremad Amager tried shots from distance, but Adam Ingi Benediktsson dealt with the attempts they had. After 57 minutes, Tobias Damtoft sent a brilliant pass to O’Vonte Mullings, who took a dribble and shot the ball into the top corner to take a 5-0 lead.
Tobias Hageltorn came on and replaced O´Vonte Mullings in the attack. Alfred Horup was moved to the left wing and Noah Engell took a place on the bench. Mikkel Brund replaced Tobias Damtoft at left back.
Noah Ibsen had to sit down on the pitch after a clash with a Fremad Amager player. It was easy to see that he was in great pain and he received treatment on the sidelines, and Søren Ilsøe took his place in central defense. Noah Ibsen limped back onto the pitch, and a few minutes later he had to chase down a Fremad Amager player. Just before the shot on AB’s goal, Noah Ibsen went down in a fine, sliding tackle and averted the possibility of a consolation goal. It was an action that was characteristic of the dedication and fighting spirit that the AB players showed in all 90 minutes.
Captain Søren Ilsøe mentioned the team’s high standard: “We followed the game plan and I think we are in a good period with lots of flow. We just play naturally and don’t think so much about things. We just play on instinct and on our good relationships. We can feel that the teams are pulling back a bit and then we get more space and are more on the ball – then we become very dangerous. There is lots of good play and lots of relationships. You can really see that the other teams are having a hard time solving it. Especially with the fast players we have offensively
I really think that the seriousness and the professionalism in that, no matter what minute we are in and how much we are ahead, we keep the standard high. We have to keep doing that, because once the teams feel that you are slacking off, then sometimes you concede goals against you.
It is also in respect for our back line and goalkeeper that you do everything to keep a clean sheet. Fremad Amager doesn’t get any big chances today and it gives great confidence to be able to keep them from virtually no chances in ninety minutes. A lovely match today and lovely with the great support from the stands”, concludes Søren Ilsøe.
Head coach Joey Gudjonsson had great praise for the players: “The players were absolutely fantastic today. We knew that Fremad Amager has many good players and is a physical team. We expected them to come out and fight. They won their last match against Vendsyssel, so we were prepared for them to come out strong. They did, but we were simply top-notch in all parts of the match. How we pressed, how we worked together and the quality that our attackers showed was really, really good.
What makes me most satisfied is that the players are willing to do the things that need to be done before we get through. It was really a pleasure to see the players today from the first to the last minute. We played the ball well, we created chances and could perhaps have scored more goals in the 2nd half. I can’t be happier after this performance, especially with the players’ attitude and the teamwork they show today. The quality and unity are incredible, and we will continue to work from here”, concludes Joey Gudjonsson.
The next match will be played on Saturday, October 4th at 13.30 in Aarhus, where VSK Aarhus will be the host.
