VSK Aarhus and AB Gladsaxe will meet tomorrow, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 3:00 PM on VSK Aarhus’s grounds in Risskov. The referee for the match is Jacob Karlsen, and the linesmen are Aidin Esmaeli and Steffen L. Christensen.

VSK Aarhus are newly promoted from the CampoBet 3rd Division. Promotion was secured even before the final match of last season was played.

The last time AB and VSK Aarhus met was in the 2nd Division in the 2018/2019 season. Out of four games that season, VSK Aarhus won three and the fourth ended in a draw. The most recent meeting between the two sides was on November 9, 2019 at VSK Aarhus — AB lost 3–0.

There’s nothing to suggest history will repeat itself when AB show up for Saturday’s match on the artificial pitch. AB come in fully focused and well prepared after training all week on the artificial pitch at Skovdiget.

VSK Aarhus come into the game off a fine 2–1 win away at Vendsyssel on a tough away day, so their players picked up plenty of confidence from that. The win lifted VSK Aarhus to seventh place in the CampoBet 2nd Division.
AB also head into the match in great spirits after fantastic wins — 4–0 over HIK in Gentofte and, most recently, 5–0 against Fremad Amager at Gladsaxe Stadium. Before the upcoming round, AB sit top of the league and are the highest-scoring side with 17 goals shared among 5 scorers, plus 4 clean sheets in 9 matches!

AB’s goalkeeper Adam Ingi Benediktsson looks forward to more AB goals: “If we continue to play as we have and think things through, then we can look forward to more goals and more victories. We will score goals – and hopefully more than our opponents – so my focus is to save every attempt”, concludes Adam Ingi Benediktsson.

Jonathan Mathys has great belief in the team’s qualities: “We’ve talked about keeping it going like we have in the last few games. We know a bit about their formations and have watched some of their matches, but we’re mostly focused on ourselves. We need to do what we’re good at, and then we don’t expect them to be able to cope with it. We have to push forward and score, but we’re also going for another clean sheet. It doesn’t matter whether we score one or five, as long as they don’t. So it’s full speed ahead, with the same solidity at the back as we’ve shown in the last games.
I don’t think we’ll fall behind, but it can happen, for example with an unlucky penalty. I think the approach will still be the same if we do go behind. And if it happens, then we’ll just have to score twice. I know we’re strong enough and good enough to withstand pressure. We also know VSK Aarhus are good on the ball, so there may be a spell where we have to stand off and wait to take the momentum back,” concludes Jonathan Mathys.

Head coach Joey Gudjonsson wants to capitalize on the momentum after back-to-back wins: “We’ve talked about the weather, because we think there’ll be a lot of rain and wind tomorrow. That can make the game harder, but we’ll see. VSK Aarhus are a physically strong side, very direct, and they play quite a few long balls. They’ve beaten Vendsyssel, so they can definitely disrupt things.

We know that all teams in this division can hurt us if we’re not at our absolute best. We’ve been working on this in training, and it’s been good practice that we could bring into the matches. The effort in recent games has been absolutely fantastic – the players are aggressive and they play with patience and power. They push each other and I can see that they really enjoy what they’re doing. In every minute of training, they’re willing to push each other and we’re becoming a team with consistency in all parts of a match. We can see there’s a spark in the players’ eyes – both those who start the match and those on the bench – and they’re completely ready when they get their chance. Everyone contributes to what we’re doing. Even though it’s a tough away game against VSK Aarhus, we need to bring the same attitude and energy into tomorrow’s match. We need to show that we can do this weekend after weekend. It’s always the toughest situation when many people think we can or should beat an opponent. That’s when it’s important that we don’t just assume we can beat them, but that we continue playing the way that has brought us to where we are now.

We’ve experienced in some games that after a couple of wins we get a bit comfortable and sloppy. So tomorrow’s game is a really good test for us as a team — to make sure we take the right steps and stay committed to where we want to go. At the same time, the players are happy and enjoying their football. We’re scoring lots of goals, and there’s a fantastic atmosphere in and around the club. We’re positive and full of energy. It’s been a joy to look back on the last few weeks and keep the good play going.
So after winning two in a row, the most important thing is that we win the third. Not because we have to win the third game, but because we can and want to win it when we make the most of the momentum we’re in right now,” concludes Joey Gudjonsson.
