Akademisk Boldklub A/S has reached an agreement with Östersunds FK on a move for goalkeeper Adam Ingi Benediktsson. 22-year-old Benediktsson has signed a 4-year contract that runs until June 2029.

– I am very much looking forward to having Adam in our dressing room. We get a goalkeeper who is incredibly strong in the box, quick on the line and incredibly athletic. I am sure that together with Adam, we can help lift both him and us to the next level, says head coach Joey Gudjonsson.

Benediktsson has played 19 games for Östersund, since joining the club in July 2024. Prior to that, he spent three seasons with IFK Göteborg, where he played 12 games in Allsvenskan.

– Adam has an exceptional size, reflexes and is athletic. He has a physical presence in the box and top-class ability to fend off shots.

– We have followed Adam closely for over two years, and when the opportunity finally came to pick him up, we had no doubts at all, says sports director Jen Chang.

Benediktsson started his youth career at FH Hafnarfjördur Academy, Iceland. He played for the Icelandic U17, U18 and U21 youth national teams, where he has made six appearances for the Iceland U21 national team.

– When I learned about AB Gladsaxe’s proud history and became aware of the ambitions with the club’s current project, it was an easy decision to make. I look forward to being part of what is being built there, says Benediktsson.
