After last week’s 2-1 defeat at Sundby Idrætspark against Fremad Amager, AB Gladsaxe looks to get back on track when Vendsyssel FF visits Gladsaxe Stadium tomorrow, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 3:00 PM. It’s the last home game of the autumn season, which referee Nicky Nordlund Hansen will kick off. The final match is an away game against FC Helsingør on Friday, November 14, 2025.
AB is in 1st place in the 2nd division CampoBet league with 30 points, and Vendsyssel is in 5th place with 27 points – just 3 points behind AB. Næstved has 28 points in 2nd place and Roskilde and Thisted each have 27 points in 3rd and 4th place. It can hardly get any closer, so a win in Saturday’s match against Vendsyssel FF would be very welcome.
Vendsyssel comes into the match after last week’s home victory over Ishøj IF by 2-1. Vendsyssel FF has Lasse Steffensen and Jonas Grauslund suspended, and AB has Casper Grening suspended after his red card, which resulted in a 2-day suspension
The last time AB was in Hjørring, they won 3-2. The goalscorers were Marcus Immersen for 1-0, Jonathan Mathys equalized to 2-2, and Marcus Immersen settled things with a cracking goal: Marcus Immersen received a long precise pass from Marco Vesterholm, dribbled past his direct opponent, and fired the ball into the goal for a 3-2 lead. The victory over Vendsyssel FF was followed up in the subsequent match with a win against the top team Næstved.
Tomorrow’s match will be a fast-paced game with some physical challenges, so the assistant referees Martin Egtved Munch Jørgensen and Iman Huseen Umar will also have plenty to keep an eye on.
Noah Engell is optimistic despite the recent defeat:
Our performance in the match against Fremad Amager wasn’t optimal. Although we were generally in the game, it wasn’t quite the same energy and level that we had in the previous six matches. The most important thing tomorrow is that we’re ready and put all our energy into it. We know we have quality in our play, we can create chances and score goals. We also need to be mindful of our defensive game.
It looks really interesting for Vendsyssel because they’re only 3 points behind us, but it’s a big game for both teams. We’ll obviously do everything to win. We might have a slight advantage as they’ve been sitting on a bus all day. Regardless, we need to focus on ourselves, and we’ll get those 3 points. We’re a team that plays a lot, and we come with a lot of power and physicality. They’re physically strong, but we’re big and strong boys ourselves. So they can bring their physicality – it just makes it a fair game. Let’s see who’s best on the ball!
Head coach Joey Gudjonsson knows that all teams will be chasing the league leaders:
Since we last met Vendsyssel, they’ve changed their head coach. They’ve done really well with 3 wins in a row, so they’re surely coming with high expectations for another victory. They have a good team, and they’re very aggressive in their pressing, so we need to be fully prepared. It will be a tough match tomorrow, and we need to be ready for a fight. Winter is coming, and the pitch will get torn up during the game, making it difficult to play. In our last match against Fremad Amager, I think we played too passively and didn’t play as a team as we strive to be. We played safely and didn’t press enough as a team. We need to work harder than we did in that match because when you’re at the top of the league, other teams really want to beat you. Therefore, Vendsyssel will use lots of energy and try to win – but we know that the table doesn’t lie.
We need to be strong physically and mentally, so we’re able to handle the teams that come and try to take points from us. It’s the last home game before the winter break, and it’s important for us to finish the first half of the season with good results. We deserve it, and our fans deserve it, so we’ll do everything we can tomorrow and fight for those 3 points.
