Tomorrow Saturday, August 23rd at 3:00 PM, Thisted FC will visit Gladsaxe Stadium to face AB Gladsaxe. A festive family day is planned outside the pitch, but might it not also end with a celebration on the pitch? AB currently sits fourth in the table with six points and Thisted FC sits second with seven points, so an exciting match is in store. The match will see a reunion with former AB player Christian Wagner, who now plays in attack for Thisted FC.
Referee Nicki Nordlund Hansen and linesmen Sidsel Fabricius and Martin Egtved Munch have been assigned to the match.

Thisted FC has gotten off to a good start in the new season with a victory over Fremad Amager, a victory over Skive and most recently a 2-2 draw at home at Sparekassen Thy Arena against VSK Århus. AB won 2-1 away against Brabrand a week ago, and in the midweek match it was 1-0 against Ishøj.
In last season’s two matches in the regular season, the two teams drew 1-1 at Gladsaxe Stadium in early September. It was Christian Wagner who put AB ahead 1-0. The most recent match was back in November, where AB won 4-2 at Sparekassen Thy Arena. AB’s goalscorers were Tobias Hageltorn, Yushi Yamaya scored two goals and Flamur Dzelili one goal.

Whether Thisted FC will benefit from coming to the match with fresh legs or whether AB’s second consecutive victory in the midweek match will give momentum for a third consecutive victory – time will tell!

Noah Ibsen says the players are ready to take 3 points: “We know that Thisted has gotten off to a good start, so they’re probably full of confidence. They know how to play, so it will be a difficult team we have to play against. We have a plan for how we should play, so hopefully we’ll get the 3 points. It’s obviously an advantage for them that they’ve had a few more days since their last match. We’ve played during the week and you can feel that there’s still some fatigue in the body. That won’t be a problem tomorrow. We’re ready to smash through and have a good match – and then we’ll take the 3 points”, concludes Noah Ibsen.

Head coach Joey Gudjonsson says AB must exploit the free areas: “It’s been a while since we last met Thisted, but they’re still loyal to their playing style. They’re very defensive, but they still create chances. They play the ball a lot into the box to players who fight for everything. It’s really a solid and good defense, so we need to take control of the match.

Our last home match was actually good enough, but we gave away silly goals and that doesn’t work in this division. We need to play in the right areas, because it gets very tight in the central part of the pitch. We need to be good at exploiting the areas that become free for us. We need to play an energetic match at high tempo, because Thisted likes to take the tempo out of the match and make it difficult for us to play. We need to be sharp and really play up to our best”, concludes Joey Gudjonsson.
