Akademisk Boldklub A/S has agreed a contract extension with forward Jonathan Mathys. Mathys, 21, has signed a 1-year extension until June 2028.

“Jonathan has truly seized the opportunity with us and has quickly settled into our dressing room. From day one, he has bought into our concept, and he works incredibly hard both on and off the pitch. I am therefore very pleased that we have secured him on a longer-term deal,” says head coach Joey Gudjonsson.

Mathys has made 10 league appearances for AB this season and has 4 goals and 3 assists. He also scored a goal in 2 Oddset Pokalen appearances.

“Jonathan has adapted very quickly since he’s moved here and is a very good fit for the style of football that we play, either as a winger or a striker.” said Sporting Director Jen Chang. “We focus on creating a professional performance environment and good culture for our players and that’s reflected by players wanting to be here and extending their contracts. We’re excited about Jonathan’s attributes and continuing to work with him.”

Mathys started his youth career with the FC Nordsjaelland academy before moving to the B93 academy. He scored 48 goals in 55 games for B93 U19s. He joined AB in July 2025.

“I’m really happy to have extended my contract with AB. The players and staff have made it an easy decision from day one – I’ve grown incredibly fond of the club in a very short time. At the same time, I can clearly feel that the club’s ambitions align with my own. We both want to keep developing and take the next step towards playing at a higher level, and that’s a journey I’m very much looking forward to continuing with AB,” said Jonathan Mathys
