AB Gladsaxe aimed for their 6th straight win when they hosted Brabrand at Gladsaxe Stadium on Saturday, October 25, 2025. AB achieved their goal with a 3-1 victory, with goals scored by Adrien Koudelka (39′), Marco Vesterholm (45′), and Casper Grening (76′). Brabrand reduced the score to 1-3 through Simon Schouby (91′). The match was attended by 722 spectators.
AB’s lineup
The coaching team made two changes compared to the match against Næstved. Søren Ilsøe was out due to suspension and was replaced by Ægir Jarl Jónasson in central midfield. O’Vonte Mullings returned from suspension and started the match instead of Marco Ramkilde, who was injured.
The starting lineup was therefore: Adam Ingi Benediktsson in goal, Frederik Lindgaard at right back, Adrien Koudelka (captain) and Noah Ibsen in central defense, and Tobias Damtoft at left back. In central midfield were Marco Vesterholm and Ægir Jarl Jónasson, with O’Vonte Mullings on the right wing and Jonathan Mathys on the left wing. Up front were Noah Engell and Marcus Immersen.
How the match unfolded
AB started the match against Brabrand like their previous games with high pressure and quick play. It was slightly more difficult today because Brabrand consistently positioned themselves low and compact, waiting for counterattacks. AB had many chances throughout the game, and the first came when Frederik Lindgård sent a perfect cross to Jonathan Mathys, who shot, but Brabrand’s goalkeeper parried the ball.
AB’s goalkeeper Adam Ingi Benediktsson had a good game, coming out well in the box and saving the few times Brabrand managed to get shots off. O’Vonte Mullings was constantly active and had several quick sprints on the wing. Most of his shots were parried for corner kicks. After fifteen minutes of play, AB had pushed the pressure entirely into Brabrand’s half. Brabrand got a counterattack after a loss of possession, and Noah Ibsen had to make a long sprint to catch up with Brabrand’s forward Omar Jarju. He managed to reach him and, with help from Adrien Koudelka, the ball was played away from him.
AB played well around the field, out to the wings, and with good crosses into the box. Marcus Immersen got a chance but finished just wide of the goal. Brabrand got another counterattack after 34 minutes, but Ægir Jarl Jónasson managed to catch up with great energy. Just a minute later, Jonathan Mathys sent a good shot, but the goalkeeper saved it for a corner, which didn’t lead to any chances. A few minutes later, AB had another corner, and after a few passes, the ball was crossed into the box. The cross was extended to the far post, where Adrien Koudelka was positioned and could score to make it 1-0.
Just 6 minutes later, O’Vonte Mullings was again ready for action in the box, but he chose to play back to Marco Vesterholm. It was a good idea, as he shot from distance and smashed the ball into the top corner to make it 2-0, which was the score at halftime.
In the 2nd half, AB’s tempo dropped slightly, and their passes occasionally became too imprecise, causing AB to lose possession. O’Vonte Mullings sent a good cross-field pass to Tobias Damtoft on the wing, but the shot was saved, and the ball went back into play.
AB played the ball well around outside Brabrand’s box, where Marcus Immersen finished, but missed the goal. After 67 minutes, Marc Dal Hende came on and replaced Tobias Damtoft. Casper Grening replaced Jonathan Mathys. Alfred Peter Horup came on and took over the midfield position from Ægir Jarl Jónassen. After 74 minutes, Marc Dal Hende made an overlap on the wing, and Casper Grening played it back to him. Marc Dal Hende sent a good cross into the box, where Noah Engell got to it, but sent his shot wide. Barely a minute later, O’Vonte Mullings won the ball and played it to Marcus Immersen, who ran towards goal and at the last moment sent a pass to the side inside the box to Casper Grening, who scored to make it 3-0.
Noah Poulsen came on after 79 minutes and was placed at left back, with Adrien Koudelka going off. The position in central defense was taken over by Marc Dal Hende. Tobias Hageltorn came on on the right wing, and Marcus Immersen went off. After this, O’Vonte Mullings played in the center of the attack.
Brabrand pressed on and after 91 minutes, a pass was sent imprecisely out of the box, and a Brabrand player got the ball and was able to play Simon Schouby completely free with a couple of dribbles, and a reduction to 3-1 became a reality and was the final result of the match.
Captain Adrien Koudelka would have liked a clean sheet:
I think we are very patient with the ball and in our play today. We manage to play the ball around well and keep the pressure on. However, it takes until the 39th minute before we score. It was deserved, as we had many chances by that point. We should have scored earlier, but then the goal came, and immediately after, we got the second goal. We take a two-goal lead into the second half and can play calmly and keep the ball more, so we can control the game.
All in all, it was a good match for all of us – both those who started and those who came on. Brabrand gets an unfortunate goal right at the end. It was very unlucky today. We really wanted to keep a clean sheet today, but that will have to wait until the next match.
Head coach Joey Gudjonsson is proud of his team:
Things went according to plan until the second half, when the tempo dropped a bit. We still created chances and could have scored more goals. Noah Engell, Casper Grening, and Jonathan Mathys all had good chances, especially in the second half, so we definitely created opportunities.
Brabrand tried to slow the game down throughout the match—fair enough, that was their game plan. They didn’t actually try that much, either. I’m obviously not happy about that.
That being said, 6 wins in a row with the commitment and effort that the players put into what has now given us the victories. The players who start and the players who come on all give everything they have and continue the play and approach that gives us the win today.I’m so proud of the AB players’ behavior and how they engage. The pitches are starting to get heavy, making it harder to play the game we want to. We can still play good matches and create chances.
Brabrand gets a goal in the last minutes. Despite that, I think our performance was good, but we all know we can do better. It’s a constant process where we work to improve our game day after day and week after week on the training ground. It will give us more victories, and we will go for them because we want to keep staying at the top. The players showed that today too – they really want to fight to remain at the top.
Not just today but also in recent weeks, I’ve been really proud of what we’re achieving. In the match against Næstved, we were down 0-1 after the 1st half, but I was still proud of the team because they did everything they could. Sometimes matches are difficult to play – and you never play a perfect match. It wasn’t perfect today either, but I’m proud of the players, their performances, and the victory.
The next match will be played on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 7:00 PM in Sundby Idrætspark against Fremad Amager.
