Tomorrow Friday, September 5, 2025, AB is back on home ground. Næstved comes visiting and the match will be kicked off at 7:00 PM by referee Frederikke Lydia Søkjær, who has Søren Lehmann and Ulrik Gøtze on the lines.
Næstved occupies 3rd place in CampoBet 2nd Division with 10 points and AB is in 6th place with 9 points, so it’s a very tight table. Næstved most recently won 3-1 in Aarhus against VSK Århus. AB won on the difficult away pitch in Hjørring with 3-2 against Vendsyssel FF.
The first match in the 2024-2025 season between the two teams was also played at Gladsaxe Stadium and the match ended 1-1. It was Jeppe Gertsen, who now plays for AB, who put his former team ahead 1-0, and Adrien Koudelka equalized for AB to 1-1. The last time the two teams faced each other was Saturday, June 14, 2025, which was the last match in the 2nd Division in the 2024-2025 season. It became a 1-0 victory for AB at Næstved Stadium on a goal by Casper Grening at the end of the match. It was AB’s fifth victory in a row.
AB has Marc Dal Hende, Marco Ramkilde, Casper Grening, Daniel A. Pedersen and Frederik Lindgaard out with injuries. Næstved has Jonas Hassan Hamed Søndergaard El-Bentagi suspended.
Marco Vesterholm sees it as an asset that there’s competition for places: “I think it will be a fun and good match. It’s a good opponent for us, because they like to play. I think we can match them, and surprise them when they see how good we are on the ball too. It’s a really good opportunity for us to get really well into the season.
I expect our pitch to be razor sharp, so we can play around and set each other up well – that’s where we’re best. There’s been a good atmosphere all week – we’re all happy about the good result in Vendsyssel. At the same time, there’s also competition for places, so everyone wants to show what they can do. We need to win many more matches, so there’s high intensity at training and good spirit”, concludes Marco Vesterholm.
Head coach Joey Gudjonsson expects a really good match: “We have a completely different game plan than we had against Thisted at home and Vendsyssel away. Næstved got a new coach at the start of this season, and he plays a somewhat different style of play than Næstved has had before. They will press much more, they have a lot of energy in the squad and they play the ball well around. It’s a really good team we’re going to face. It’s a really good opportunity for us to show what we want and can do. We need to press high, be on our toes and play through them. They are well organized, but they have some challenges in their defensive play that we need to exploit. We will play our own game in the right areas, play through them, play deep and play behind them. We will be on top of them from the start. That also means we need to be sharp in our defensive play and we need to play with few and short touches.
I think it will be a really good football match. Our victory away in Hjørring was very important for us. The players showed character, and there were many good individual performances. The most important thing was that we played as a team throughout the entire match both with and without the ball. That’s our foundation for a good match tomorrow. It’s been a good week after the victory, of course. There’s been great joy in the squad and it has given them confidence and belief that hard work brings results. The boys come to training every single day with the will to train hard to get better – regardless of whether we lose or win”, concludes Joey Gudjonsson.
