Gladsaxe Stadium looked great with beautiful championship banners, rollers, 804 spectators and an inviting football pitch when AB Gladsaxe took on FC Helsingør today, 8.8.2025. However, it wasn’t long before the rain came down for the 3rd game in a row, making it difficult to play for both teams. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for FC Helsingør, with both Helsingør goals scored by Tobias Augustinus-Jensen. AB’s goal was scored by Marc Dal Hende

AB’s lineup:

AB fielded the same line-up as for the match against Ishøj IF. In goal was Adam Ingi Benediktsson, in right back Frederik Lindgaard, in central defense Adrian Koudelka and Noah Ibsen and in left back Marc Dal Hende.

In central midfield were Mikkel Brund and Søren Ilsøe, on the right O’Vonte Mullings and on the left Casper Grening. Up front were Ægir Jarl Jonásson and Marcus Immersen.

In the first half, Marcus Immersen was forced off with an injury and he was replaced by Jonathan Mathys just before the referee whistled for half-time.

From the start of the second half, Jeppe Gertsen came into the central defense and replaced Noah Ibsen. With just under half an hour left, Osama Mushed came on to replace Casper Grening. Steven Bala took over for Ægir Jarl Jonasson. Tobias Hageltorn came on with around twenty minutes left and replaced Søren Ilsøe.

Recap of the match

AB pressed from the start of the match and sat on most of the play. Helsingør tried with long balls. AB stood solid in defense and denied. AB had several opportunities at the start of the match to put themselves ahead. O’Vonte Mullings pulled through nicely and was unlucky not to score. Noah Ibsen had a good header but missed the target. After 10 minutes it almost went wrong when Noah Ibsen tried to kick the ball away. Instead, it was an Helsingør player who got the ball. Completely free, he should have scored, but Adam Ingi Benediktsson wanted it differently and went strong in the box and blocked the shot.

At times there was a lot of duel play in the middle, where the ball was often in the air. However, AB constantly tried to get the game down along the ground. 0’Vonte Mullings tested Helsingør’s goalkeeper with a good shot in the middle of the goal, but he managed to box the ball for a corner kick. The cross was well placed and Marc Dal Hende had a chance to score, but the ball ended up wide of goal. Casper Grening had some good passes, one of which was to Ægir Jarl Jonasson, who ran free in front of goal, but he dropped a pass and the ball went off him. A few minutes later Casper Grening was through on his own, but this too ended up missing the target. Marcus Immersen got free after some quick passes, but the finish was imprecise. Marcus Immersen had to retire with an injury and was replaced by Jonathan Mathys.

After the break, Noah Ibsen was replaced by Jeppe Gertsen. The second half was only 6 minutes old when Marc Dal Hende unfortunately cleared the ball in his own defensive zone to Tobias Augustinus-Jensen, who was completely free of goal to score for 1-0. After just 3 minutes, Helsingør broke through again, and the shot from Tobias Augustinus-Jensen was initially saved by Adam Ingi Benediktsson, but then the ball slipped from him and went into the goal to lead 2-0. A real shame for Adam Ingi Benediktsson, who otherwise had a really good game.

After Helsingør’s second goal, AB Helsingør pushed all the way back on the pitch. Søren Ilsøe left the field and Tobias Hageltorn was put all the way forward. Marc Dal Hende was also put further forward, and towards the end Adam Ingi Benediktsson came forward in Helsingør’s penalty area. The hard pressure resulted in a reducing goal by Marc Dal Hende in the 89th minute. AB threw almost every man forward on the pitch, which gave a struggling Helsingør team some chances after conversions. When the referee had added 6 minutes to the regular time, AB had several chances to equalize, but none of the chances were converted into goals.

Captain Marc Dal Hende was really disappointed: “I think we have the match picture that we wanted. In the first half, I think we pressed and pressed. We create good chances, but we lack that last bit of cynicism and sharpness. That’s what prevents us from putting distance between us and them. Helsingør fights heroically, does well and makes it difficult for us. Then it happens what sometimes happens in a football match. Personal mistakes are made and unfortunately I did that today. It gets them going and they get renewed belief in things – unfortunately. After that, I think it becomes too much on Elsinore’s terms.

We try everything we can, but they could have closed the game too. So I’m really disappointed and in such a beautiful setting that we were looking forward to playing in. So we’re very disappointed that we don’t take points from the game.

Of course we have to score goals, but anyone who has played football knows that it’s more complicated than that. It’s difficult to play against someone who is actually compact and tries to ruin the flow of the game. That’s the premise and we need to work on that and we’re working hard on it. So we need to get back on the training pitch and then just put our work gloves back on,” concludes Marc Dal Hende.

Head coach Joye Gudjonsson was disappointed with the result: “We played an OK first half. The only thing they created in the first half was two shots and then we made the wrong decision and simply gave the ball away in our own penalty area. I think we could have scored 2-3 goals. Immersen had two really good chances and so did O’Vonte.

I think we dominated the first half, but they made it really difficult for us in the second half. We gave them the lead but they didn’t try to play the way we thought they would. That made it difficult for us and we weren’t cynical enough in the first half and we threw it away in the second half,” concludes Joey Gudjonsson.

The next match will be played on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 14.00 on the road against Brabrand.
