AB Gladsaxe played the last and fourth training matches on Saturday 2 August. It was the fourth win in a row, when Brønshøj Boldklub was defeated 1-0 in Tingbjerg Idrætspark on a goal by Ægir Jarl Jonasson after the 48th minute.
Said right away, it was never a flashy game from AB’s side.
The team now has to resort to the saying: “A bad dress rehearsal makes for a good premiere”.
Furthermore, both Søren Ilsøe and Noah Engell had to leave the field with injuries.
AB’s line-ups
Adam Ingi Benediktsson was in goal, in central defense were Noah Ibsen and Adrien Koudelka, left back Marc Dal Hende (captain) and right back Frederik Lindgaard. In midfield, Søren Ilsøe and Mikkel Brund. On the wings O’Vonte Mullings and Casper Grening. At the very front were Noah Engell and Steven Bala.
Unfortunately, Søren Ilsøe had to be replaced with an injury after 25 minutes. Noah Maale came on the field and he played a really good game.
Just before the break, the accident occurred again, when Noah Engell had to leave the field. He was replaced by Ægir Jarl Jonasson.
About an hour into the game, AB made a major substitution – after that, AB’s line-up looked like this: Adam Ingi Benediktsson was in goal, in central defense Jeppe Gertsen and Adrien Koudelka, left back Frederik Jørgensen and right back was a trial player. In midfield, Mikkel Brund and Noah Maale played, on the wingers Frederik Lindgaard and Osama Murshed and up front Steven Bala and Ægir Jarl Jonasson.
Towards the end of the game, Alfred Horup, Noah Poulsen and Tobias Hageltorn came on the field.
Summary of the match
AB tried from the start to get on the game and played well around. Early in the game, however, Brønshøj got the opportunity to come up with two good finishes, which Adam Ingi Benediktsson nicely averted. AB had a hard time scoring, where both Casper Grening and Noah Engell missed otherwise good opportunities.
When AB’s high pressing game is not right in the cupboard, it can give the opponents large spaces to play in midfield. This happened a few times in the match against Brønshøj, where AB was overplayed. At times, the game also became too slow and devoid of ideas with too many touches.
However, AB got more control of the game and also came up with more finishes. Marc Dal Hende played Adrien Koudelka, who ran in an overlap on the edge and sent a really good cross into the box, where O’Vonte Mullings came a little too late. O’Vonte Mullings was again on the line shortly after, where he showed his dribbling skills, but he did not manage to get past Brønshøj’s defender.
Casper Grening wasted the chance to score on a free kick, and a long throw-in into the box from Mikkel Brund, gave the chance to Adrien Koudelka, who reached high in the air, but got his head straight at the goalkeeper.
AB lost the ball and Brønshøj got off quickly, AB’s defense came very slowly – except for Noah Maale, who took a sprint to AB’s goal area and blocked the finish from Brønshøj.
In the 2nd half, the game became more organized, and after just three minutes of playing time, the goal came. Noah Maale played Casper Grening, who passed to Ægir Jarl Jonasson, who sent a really good shot all the way down at the post into the goal to lead 1-0.
Five minutes later, it was like a shooting tent, as Brønshøj had the opportunity for three finishes in the same attack. Adam Ingi Benediktsson was once again the lifeline together with the defense.
Steven Bala, who played in front, had a good shot from distance, but the goalkeeper saved. Then it was about to go wrong again, when a Brønshøj player resolutely kicked the ball well outside AB’s box. The ball dived and could have gone into the goal if Adam Ingi Benediktsson hadn’t been awake and boxed the ball over the goal.
Frederik Lindgaard worked hard as always, but it turned into a big burner when he came all alone with the goalkeeper.
Osama Murshed took a corner kick, which Adrien Koudelka headed over goal. Noah Poulsen got free, but also burned.
The game ended 1-0 on a day where the sun shone on the approximately 300 spectators, but the wasted chances were predominant.
Head coach Joey Gudjonsson said after the game: “Yes, it was the last training match and another win. It’s always good to win games and we could have scored more goals in the 1st half, although our attacking play could have been better. I think we were a little sloppy in the defense and took it a little too relaxed. Brønshøj got a chance because we didn’t control the ball well enough and kick it away. I told the boys at half-time that I wasn’t happy with their performance at all.
The 2nd half was brilliant. It will always be difficult when we play against Brønshøj and away from home, but I think we matched every part of the game. They did well, and it was a good reaction to the 1st half.
We now have a week of training, where we continue with the things we have been working on. We need to focus on honing the different aspects of the game. We are turning down the physical part a bit, and we will probably adjust a bit, because Ishøj plays differently. So we must prepare for that without thinking too much about what they do. We have to control the game and take their game out of the game. Then it is our own game that will carry us through the match”, concludes Joye Gudjonsson.
The next match is the first match in CampoBet 2nd Division – Regular Season 2025/26, and we face Ishøj away from home on Saturday 2 August 2025 at 13:00.
