Akademisk Boldklub says goodbye to assistant coach Fabiana Alcalá. This is due to a job offer Fabiana has not been able to refuse.

Fabiana Alcalá joined AB in the winter of 2024, where she was hired as the club’s Health & Performance Coach. Previously, she has been a coach in RCD Espanyol and TMF Kuwait, among others.

– Fabiana has been fantastic to work with. She brings an amazing spirit and character every day. We will miss her very much, but we wish her all the best and success in her future career, says AB’s sports director Jen Chang.

Wrote Denmark’s history with AB

During her time at AB, Fabiana Alcalá has helped write Danish football history. It happened when she became the first woman to lead a men’s division football team in Denmark on 17 May 2024, when AB met Nykøbing in the 2. Division.

– Fabiana has been a huge pleasure to work with. One of the very special moments for me in AB was the day when Fabiana was the first female head coach of a professional men’s team in Denmark – we made history together, and there is no one I would rather do this with than Fabi.

We will miss her, but also fully support the opportunity that has arisen and wish her all the best in the future – and hope that we see her again at Gladsaxe Stadium practicing her Danish vocabulary together with AB Forever, says Sofie Brandi Petersen.

AB means something special to Fabiana

Fabiana Alcalá got her football upbringing in the Canary Islands, Barcelona and in the United States. After a few years of serious injuries, she decided to stop playing football.

Instead, she took her passion for football with her in her coaching work, which made her a special part of AB.

– After two unforgettable seasons in AB, I have made a difficult decision and accepted a new offer that I believe will help me continue to grow, both personally and professionally.

– Being part of AB has been far more than a job. It has given me meaning, made me grow, and given me a true sense of belonging. I say goodbye with a heartfelt gratitude and abiding respect for everyone who has made my journey so meaningful. AB will always have a special place in my heart, says Fabiana Alcalá.
