It will be a big mouthful for AB to face Vejle’s Superliga team, but the team is ready to face the
n major challenge. Despite different sporting rankings at the moment, it can be a cup thriller, because as you know, all matches start 0-0.
Vejle BK played 1-1 in the Superliga against Viborg on Sunday at Vejle Stadium. In the cup tournament, Vejle won 1-0 against Sønderjyske Fotball and 7-0 against tst football. AB comes to the cup match with a fresh win in the bag after Saturday’s 1-0 away win against Thisted FC. The cup tournament has given 3 victories, where AB in the last match against FA2000 made the magical comeback.
Trailing 0-2, equalizing to 2-2 in the regular game and scoring 2 minutes into extra time to make the final score 3-2.
Throughout history, the two traditional clubs Vejle and AB have met each other a number of times, both in tournament matches and in cup matches. The last time the two teams crossed swords, however, was all the way back in April 2002, when AB won 4-0 at Vejle Stadium. The last time the two teams met in the cup tournament was in 2001, when AB won 2-0 at Vejle Stadium.
Vejle BK has enriched Danish football with many big football names: Ulrik le Fevre, Allan Simonsen and Thomas Graversen just to name a few personalities. The match will be refereed by Jakob Kehlet, who has Daniel R. Krogstrup and Danny Kolding on the sidelines, while Jesper Nielsen is the 4th referee.
After Tuesday’s training, head coach David Roufpanah said: “We have to try to play as much as possible in the way we want to play and try to play on our terms. We should not change too much, and it is important that we try to keep our identity. Of course, we know that there is great quality in the Vejle players we will be playing against. It is important that we are disciplined and work hard together. When you play against teams with a higher quality, you have to have really good discipline. If you make mistakes, it is punished immediately. I have a good feeling and the team has a good energy. So we have to get on the pitch and make a really good attempt to create a good game.”
