The battle for the top-6 enters the exciting and final phase. AB Gladsaxe is missing three games just like the other teams in the 2nd division. The first of the three matches will be played today, Friday 28 March 2025 at 19:00, at Helsingør Ny stadion. The last two games are against Nykøbing FC and Aarhus Fremad.

Before the three decisive games, AB is in the top-6 in 6th place with 27 points. FC Helsingør occupies 9th place with 21 points. AB won the last match 3-0 away against Ishøj IF. FC Helsingør lost 1-0 to HIK in Gentofte.

In the first match between the two teams in August, AB won at Gladsaxe Stadion with 2-0. AB’s scorers in that match were Christian Wagner and O’Vonte Mullings. It was a game early in the season, but where AB played really well in a game that also had difficult periods. AB fought and worked hard for a well-deserved victory. Also part of the story is that FC Helsingør had a player sent off at the start of the 2nd half.

The referee of the match is Sebastian Friis Aagerup and he has Philip Warburg and Søren Lehmann on the sidelines.

Midfielder Ægir Jarl Jónasson believes that the team can continue the good streak.

“It will be an exciting match we will play, and we are keen to continue the good streak with victories. We will play like in the last two games, and we have to work on the same principles of, for example, winning the first and second balls. We have to be direct and take advantage of the things that have helped us to the last results.”

“I think it will be a tough game and we have to have respect for them, but we simply have to play our own game – then I believe in another victory”, concludes Ægir Jarl Jónasson.

Head coach Joey Gudjonsson sees good opportunities for a good game with a certain advantage.

“We will control the game as much as possible. We know that Elsinore wants to have the ball and play the game. They are direct and don’t just play the close game. They want to get behind us, and they are good at attacking and scoring goals. We have to get a grip on our own defensive part first, and even though Elsinore is not high in the table, we have to have respect for them, because no game in this division is easy. We have to work really hard so that we can show our qualities. We know they have some weaknesses and we have to be aggressive with the ball.”

“We played really well against Ishøj last weekend, and our pressing game was really good. We limited their chances and we created many chances ourselves. After that game, we probably thought we could have been more cynical and scored more goals.
We have to be ready to change our game if the opponent changes theirs. It happened in the last game against Ishøj, and we must always be aware of that and ready for that. I think the team has become better at reading what the opponent is doing, so that’s really nice.”

“We can still improve our game and be more aggressive when we find their weaknesses – then we really have to take the chance,” concludes Joey Gudjonsson.
